Dr. Eric Kortanek, PsyD
Eric Kortanek, PsyD (he, his, him) is a clinical psychologist licensed by the state of Ohio and the President and founder of Kortanek Psychological Services, Inc. Dr. Kortanek received his Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the Ohio State University, his Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Chicago, and his Doctorate of Psychology from the same school. He has extensive experience working with adults, adolescents, children, families, and couples in a variety of settings. In addition to providing psychotherapy and psychological assessments, Dr. Kortanek has presented workshops and seminars to colleges, community centers, and other professionals. He has also been an expert consultant for media and news professionals, often interviewed on television. In his spare time, Dr. Kortanek enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is an outdoor enthusiast, enjoys playing and listening to music, discovering new cuisine, and watching Cleveland and Ohio State sports teams, specifically the Cleveland Browns.

Kate Kortanek, LPCC-S, ATR-BC
Kate Kortanek, LPCC-S, ATR-BC (she, her, hers) is a Trauma Informed Expressive Arts Therapist trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, known as EMDR. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Supervisory Designation, and a Board-Certified Registered Art Therapist. In 2008, Kate received her Master’s Degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Illinois and has been providing her services ever since. Kate enjoys working with all types of clients: children, teenagers, and adults. She offers individual, family, and group therapy, in addition to supervision and consultation for professionals.
Sessions with Kate may include explorative art making, EMDR, mindfulness & relaxation, CBT/DBT/ACT, or verbal processing. Kate strives for all clients to gain new insights, self-awareness, self-compassion, and behavioral changes. She is proficient in teaching adaptive coping strategies, calming skills, psycho-education, self-esteem building, and the safe exploration of unresolved hurts. Kate believes that we are all worthy of self-love and fulfillment, but may be hindered in some way in our lives to believe this to be true. Carmen Kottha, LISW
Carmen Krystyniak Kottha, LISW (she, her, hers) is originally from Detroit. She attended John Carroll for her undergraduate in Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health Services before completing her Masters of Social Work at Tulane in New Orleans, LA. Tulane’s graduate program consists of both a Micro (Direct Services) and Macro (Broader systems) philosophy which has served her well when approaching complex situations throughout her diverse social work career. Carmen has a passion for work and connecting with people of all walks of life. She has worked with individuals and their families in both residential and community settings. She is also experienced with children, teens, and adults in the general population and those with trauma or severe mental illness. Carmen engages in a strength based, person centered approach, incorporating problem solving and mindfulness strategies, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), and play therapy. She grew up in a large close knit extended family, attended Detroit Public Schools, and is a survivor of Hurricane Katrina. Carmen continues to navigate unique and challenging dynamics as a wife and parent of three, which informs her practice with humor and an appreciation for practicality. Finding the right connection is essential, as a trusting relationship is the cornerstone of successful therapy. Carmen recognizes that beginning a journey to wellness can be scary. While honoring the difficulty of these first steps, she believes, a fulfilling balanced life with joy is possible for everyone, and is always worth the work.
Lindsay Dunkel, LISW-S
Lindsay Dunkel, LISW-S (she, her, hers) is an Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker, with Supervision Designation. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Social Work from Miami University and her Master’s of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in New York City. Her focus in both programs was in gerontology; studying transitions throughout the lifespan and issues specific to older adults. Core social work values of service, social justice, and dignity and worth of each person are important to her. Lindsay has worked for the past 9 years in healthcare and non-profits. She has worked with children, teens, and adults on issues of grief, loss, coping with new diagnoses, end of life issues, difficult adjustments, caregiving, anxiety, and depression. Lindsay utilizes Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. These modalities can help clients make positive changes, cope with stress, relax, and challenge unhelpful or harmful thought patterns. Lindsay’s style is warm, non-judgmental, collaborative, and strengths-based. She believes in the innate value of each person and their ability to create and experience positive change in their lives. Her wish for each client is that they leave sessions feeling more hopeful, content, and confident. Outside of work, she spends a lot of time with her friends and family (and pet birds), enjoys traveling, art and photography, going to the movies, and trying new things.
